Cake Templates
Many of the recipes in the Kids' Birthday Cakes book
use a template to make it easy for you to cut out the shape of the cake,
icing or decoration. You can find all the templates available for download
below.
Once you have downloaded the template, trace the
outline onto baking paper, and cut out the shapes. Place the shapes
on top of your cake, secure with toothpicks and carefully cut along
the edge of the paper. Remove toothpicks and paper and assemble the
cake following the directions in the recipe. Secure the individual pieces
with icing and skewers cut down to size – remember to remove the
skewers when you cut the cake to avoid any injuries.
If cutting fondant for your cake, use the same method
but do not secure the template with toothpicks.
We have also prepared a handy cake
tin information sheet that explains the sizes and cooking times
of the various tins used in this book.
